Health4Life trip to Poland

As part of the Comenius Health4Life Project, Mrs Stewart, Mr. Ellis and 2nd year pupils, John Anderson, Halle Fitzsimmons, Rachel Murphy, and Alexander Nutt will be attending a project meeting in Olecko, Poland together with teachers and pupils from our partnership schools. The main focus of the meeting will be on learning foreign languages. Bon Voyage!

Health4Life visit to Belgium

As part of our Comenius ‘Health4Life’ project, Mr. Lynn, Ms Fuller and S3 pupils Frazer Buchanan, Connor Halliday, Tammy Reid and Jade Scott visited Belgium for a project meeting. They met with teachers and pupils from our partnership schools in Belgium, Greece, Poland, Portugal and Spain and took part in various activities relating to the project. One key activity was the Health4Life Debate where each country entered a team of 3 consisting of 1 teacher and 2 pupils and debated various issues relating to healthy eating, sport and exercise. Everyone had a wonderful trip and the meeting was a great success. The next project meeting will be in Poland 9th to the 13th May where the main focus will be on learning foreign languages.

Global citizens

Doon Academy staff have submitted their nomination for the Global Citizenship Award to the Scottish Education Awards Committee. The awards celebrate excellence in Scottish education.

Comenius visitors

Doon Academy hosted Comenius teachers from Belgium, Portugal and Spain who visited the school to prepare the application for our Comenius ‘Health4Life’ 2010-2012 multilateral project. During their 2 day visit to the school the teachers attended a coffee morning prepared by Supported Learning Centre pupils, had a tour of the school and a welcome assembly with S2 and P7 pupils. They also had time during their stay for a visit to Burns Cottage and Edinburgh Castle.

International School award

Doon Academy has received Intermediate Level in the International School Awards (ISA). Congratulations to all pupils and staff for promoting Internationalism throughout the school and with our international partners.
