Art Book Club

Mrs Bax and Miss Fuller will be starting an after school Art Book Club every Thursday beginning the 4th of November. This is open to all students and members of the club will be creating new mural panels for the library based on quotes from books. Come along and get creative!

Self-defence classes

Mr Kerr is taking self defence classes for S5/6 girls on ‘How to get out of an attack’. The classes will be held every Monday.

Panto stars

A group of S1 pupils were involved with the FiB Company in a production of Sleeping Beauty at Elmbank Theatre, Ayr. The pupils performed for Dalmellington P7s and Doon Academy’s S1 pupils and also gave an evening performance for parents and visitors. All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed their theatrical experience and the pantomime was a sensation.

Halloween Disco

The Halloween Disco was a raving success with pupils and staff dressed in an eclectic range of outfits from Dracula to Snow White. Well done to the 6th year prefects and school captains for arranging the event.

Barnado's Drop In Club

Barnado’s Drop In club will resume on the 5th November and will be available for pupils every 2 weeks. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Supported Study

Supported Study sessions after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays are now underway. All pupils in S4 to S6 are welcome to attend to gain extra help and support from their teachers.

Art Supported Study

A reminder that the Art Department is holding a supported study session on Tuesdays at lunchtime to assist all senior pupils in preparation for their examinations.

Y Dance

The Y Dance group is at Doon Academy, after school, every Wednesday. They will be teaching pupils, from all year groups S1 to S6, the art of Hip Hop and modern contemporary dance. Come along and join the fun!

Art Club

Our Art teachers Miss Fuller and Mrs Hume are busying organising an after-school Art Club. Anyone who is interested in art as a hobby, that's students and staff, and for any busy art students who just need more time to complete their artwork, they are all more than welcome to attend. The Art Department is a friendly and welcoming haven for all those interested in art.

Badminton

The badminton club, held after school every Monday, has now started and all pupils are welcome to attend. A professional coach, who will help pupils to increase their skills, runs the club.

Art Attack

The Art Department run their Art Attack club every Wednesday after school: 2.45pm – 4.15pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is a free bus to take pupils home afterwards.

Body Attack Back

After the Christmas holidays the Body Attack class will resume for pupils, staff and parents. This will be perfect for shedding the christmas pounds!

Netball game

On Thursday 20th November, Doon Academy’s S1 netball team took part in their first ever league game which was against St. Joseph’s. With some great defending from Claire Boyd and Lauren Shaw, St. Joseph’s were unable to get anywhere near the net. It wasn’t long before Doon took the lead with a great net from Jade Scott. St. Joseph’s quickly came back scoring 2 nets in quick succession to take the lead. Hazel Limond, Raegan Heggie and Paige McMahon performed some fantastic manoeuvres in the 2nd half, which meant the two teams, were then on equal terms. Doon was able to score another net after Tami McLelland came on as sub. But, unfortunately, St. Joseph’s were too quick for our girls and the final score meant a 6-3 defeat for Doon. Well done to all girls who took part, as this was a great first game for everyone. Our seniors played a friendly netball game against St Joseph’s on the same day. All put in a great performance.

London trip

There will be a trip to London from the 12th to 14th June 2009. 44 places are available and the cost is £199.00 please ask Ms. Fuller for details.

Body Attack Club

Ms Griffin is running an after-school body attack club on Thursdays after school. Parents, pupils and teachers are all welcome to attend.

Guitar Club

Mr. Paton’s guitar club meets every Wednesday after school. All pupils interested in learning to play the guitar are welcome to attend.
