Fire Safety
Community Firefighter Liaison Officer Carol Cairns visited the school to speak to S1 about the safety of fire service officers when they attend fires in the community.

Ctiizenship graduates
Damien Slocombe, Tommy Campbell, Ross Mellis, James McCreath and Stuart Paulin were the most recent S1/2 graduates from our Citizenship programme. The pupils completed a ten week after school activity session which included car maintenance and recycling; a community litter pick and a garden improvement site. Two senior pupils, Logan Collins and Craig Pettigrew, also received certificates for their work as mentors with the younger pupils and for assisting in the engineering activities. Congratulations to them all and we wish them every success in the future.

Citizenship
The Citizenship group will be starting shortly, this time for S1 boys. The group meets on a Thursday afternoon, after school, to explore the schools values whilst gaining communication skills and developing teamwork techniques. The group will also learn how to build positive relationships. College Lecturers will be involved in the delivery of the ten-week course.

The S2/3 Citizenship Group will be up and running at the end of October. The planned activities will focus on team building and communication skills.

Citizenship garden
The Citizenship Group have transformed a derelict area into a beautiful garden with fruit trees and shrubs. The pupils worked with Kilmarnock College lecturers to design sculptural features. The boys received certificates for their service to the school at a graduation ceremony.

School garden
The S2 Citizenship Group would like to thank Dobbies in Ayr for kindly donating plants for the school’s quadrangle garden. Ryan Brown, Lyle Wares and Kerr Boyd visited Dobbies to choose their plants and were helped by the plant and general managers. The S2 boys have been busy tidying the garden area and planting the new trees and shrubs.
Thank you to Dobbies and to the citizenship group for all their hard work. The quadrangle is looking super.

Citizenship programme
A new ten-week citizenship programme has begun for S2 pupils. The selected pupils will work after school on activities designed to provide a service to the community. The participants learn new skills and gain confidence in working as a team to benefit others. Good luck to the new team

Citizenship programme
S2 pupils in the Citizenship Programme have now completed their course. Three pupils, Craig Pettigrew, Scott Grozier and Connor Patterson have been invited to be mentors for the next session. Citizenship staff believes the boys will be positive influences and set an example of good practice to their younger peers.

New Citizenship programme
The Citizenship Programme has begun with a new group of S3 boys. 14 boys will be working after school, every Thursday for 10 weeks, on various activities including healthy eating topics, engineering with the college engineers, and sports. Good Luck boys!

Citizenship programme
9 S2 pupils have successfully completed the After School Citizenship Programme. The Pupils took part in engineering activities with lecturers from Kilmarnock College; they prepared healthy fruit smoothies and they took part in litter pick-ups in the local community. There will be a graduation, which will be attended by the pupils, family members and teaching staff. We congratulate the pupils who successfully completed the 10-week programme.

S2 Citizenship programme
The S2 Citizenship programme is under way. 14 S2 pupils are working, after school, with Mr Tomlinson, Mr Lynn, Mrs McRoberts and Mr MacKenzie. They will be studying Car Maintenance, Welding, Community service and making video diaries. The programme runs until the middle of December when there will be a graduation for the successful citizens.
