Glasgow Schools Cricket Association Results Doon Academy V St Ninians High School – Played at Prestwick C.C. Thursday 23rd May 2013 St Ninians 44 all Out (Brady 10 - R Parker 3 for 6 - R McCreath 3 for 15) Doon 45 for 3 (Taylor 17 N.O. Parker 10 N.O. Anwar 3 for 20) Doon Academy won by 7 wkts.

Cricket news

Congratulations to Josh Taylor who has been selected as the school cricket team captain and to Rory Parker selected as his vice captain. In the single wicket competitions Steven MacKay won the D.V.C.C. senior single wicket competition beating James McCreath in the final. In the junior competition Aaron Gilmore beat Colin MacDonald in the final. Well done to everyone who took part in the events.

Cricket news

In cricket news the Doon Academy’s girls’ team, made up of pupils from Doon and Dalmellington primary, played in a single wicket competition with runner-up Lori Jane McLarty and Macy Biggar.

Well done to everyone who took part.

Congratulations to Josh Taylor and Rory Parker who are playing in the under 14 county cricket team and to Dalmellington Primary pupils Tommy Smith and Sam Boyd who are playing in the county under 12 team.

Coach Alan White has begun cricket training and will be held in the gym on Mondays 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Cricket


 In cricket news Doon Academy’s team is now hosting their home games at the square in Wellington School. This agreement has been reached by Coach Mr. White agreeing to maintain the pitch. Thanks Mr White for your help.

Glasgow Schools Cricket

In the semi-final of the Glasgow Schools Cricket Association Cup, Doon Academy’s cricket team played very well but lost to Eastwood High School. Doon was 43 all out and Eastwood 44 for 1. Doon lost by 9 wickets. Well done to the boys for reaching the semi-final and good luck for next session.

Cricket success

The school cricket team has batted to another success in the Glasgow Schools C.A. League by winning their match against Stonelaw High School. Stonelaw were 32 all out (11.5 overs) and Doon was 33 for 5 wickets (4.1 overs). Doon won by 5 wickets. Congratulations to the team and man of the match Daryl Grover.

Cricket win

Doon Academy’s 1st year/P7s from Dalmellington Primary cricket team played against Wellington School at Wellington Sports Ground. Doon won by 6 wickets with Colin McDonald 5 wickets for 14 runs including a hat trick. This was a superb team effort in their first competitive cricket game. Thank you to their coach Mr. White and to Mrs. McNair and others who braved the atrocious weather to support the team.

Cricket vs Hillhead

Doon Academy’s cricket team will be playing against Hillhead School in the 2nd round of the Scottish Schools’ Cricket Cup at Prestwick Cricket Ground on Thursday 5th May from 1pm. Good Luck boys.

Cricket

In school cricket news, congratulations to Alexander McDowall who won the junior cricket single wicket competition by defeating Josh Taylor 17-14 in the final. Well done to Josh for reaching the final. They will both be presented with their trophies at the prize giving ceremony prior to the cricket dinner on March 25th in the Masonic Club, Dalmellington.

Cricket Medals


At the senior assembly the school cricket team were presented with their medals and trophy for winning the West of Scotland Schools Plate Competition. Under the guidance of cricket captain S5 pupil Robert McDowall, and coach Alan White, the team won, with 3 balls to spare, in the final against Airdrie Academy. Congratulations from staff and pupils at Doon Academy.

Cricket success

Congratulations to the Doon Academy Cricket Team who are the winners of the West of Scotland Schools Plate competition with their victory over Alloa Academy. Well done and thank you to Mr. White for his coaching of the team. The trophy will be presented to the cricket team captain S5 pupil Robert McDowall at a prize giving event at the Ayr Cricket Club on Thursday 2nd December.

Cricket success

Congratulations to the school cricket team for reaching the semi-final of the Scottish Plate Competition. Doon Academy won by 72 runs against St. Ninian’s and will now play Airdrie in the semi-final. Good luck team – fingers crossed!

Cricket success


Congratulations to S4 pupil Robert McDowall a member of the Ayrshire Under 15 cricket team who won the Inter District Cricket Tournament. Doon Academy’s technician Alan White coaches the Under 15 county team, along with the Ayrshire Under 13s who also won their age group Inter District trophy. Well done to Robert and Mr White.

Cricket News

Former pupil William Rowan is being shipped off to Australia again: this time to the Cricket Academy of Sydney. He will be sponsored by Telford College, where he is studying sports sciences, and by Cricket Scotland. Willie will be leaving on the 2nd of January next year and will be back after 3 months. Everyone at Doon Academy wishes him great success.

Cricket training has recommenced on Monday evenings in the games hall at Doon Academy from 6.30pm till 8.30pm.

Cricket

In cricket Doon Academy won against Prestwick but were narrowly beaten by Ayr in the final of the Floodlit Tournament. Robert McDowall was the top scorer for runs and the top bowler was Darryl Grover. Several members of the team will be going forward to play in the league county cricket, which begins in November. Well done, boys!

Cricket

Cricket training will resume in school at lunch times. There will also be after school training on Mondays’ beginning in October. Alan McDonald and Robert McDowell played alongside Willie Rowan and represented Prestwick in the U18’s National cricket final. Our technician in the technical department Mr White has been re-appointed county coach for 2009 following the successful 2008 season. Thank you to Minerals Trust for their kind donation to our cricket team. The donation will help towards funds for a minibus for away games and cricketing equipment.
