Goodbye to Mr Jamieson
Our local minister Iain Jamieson gave a talk to S4 pupils at the Friday assembly. This was Mr. Jamieson’s last official engagement with us as a new minister has been appointed. Staff and pupils presented Mr Jamieson with a gift from the school as a thank you for his hard work in building links between the school and church and for his thought provoking talks. We all wish him a fond farewell.

New Principal Teacher
Congratulations to Douglas Gooding in the Science department who was successful at interview and is promoted to Principal Teacher of Science at the school. We wish him well in his post.

Goodbye to Mrs Mendy and Miss Cooke
Doon Academy staff and pupils bid a fond farewell to our Maths probationer teachers Angela Mendy and Emma Cooke. Both teachers fully embraced Doon life, including taking part in leadership courses, accompanying pupils on visits, and being actively involved in school committees. They will be missed by everyone at the school and we wish them well for the future

Goodbye to Mr Kavanagh
Doon Academy staff and pupils bid a fond farewell to our History probationer teacher Jamie Kavanagh. Mr. Kavanagh fully embraced Doon life, including coaching the pupil football team, accompanying the visit to Alton Towers and playing in the staff Friday evening football matches. Congratulations to Acting PT of Maths Nanette Brotherwood who was success at interview for PT Maths in James Hamilton Academy. Mrs. Brotherwood will take up her position in August. She will be sadly missed and we wish her every success in the future.

French Assistant leaving
Pupils and staff bid a fond farewell to our French Assistant Andre Valente who will be returning to university in Toulouse in France. Andre has been a great asset to the school by helping pupils with their French vocabulary. He also introduced them to the customs and culture of France. Andre said: “ I have really enjoyed my time at the school and I will miss everyone”. We all wish him the very best of luck for the future.
Nurse Leaving
Karen Egan, School Nurse, for Mental Health and Emotional Well-being will be leaving the school at the end of June as funding for the 20/20 Vision has now ended. Pupils and staff will sadly miss Karen.
