S3 Parents Evening

The S3 parents evening will be held on Thursday 3rd May from 5pm to 7pm. This will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss your child's progress through Standard Grade or Intermediate level courses. We hope to see you all there.

S5/6 Parents Evening

The S4/5/6 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 29th March 5.30pm - 7.30pm and staff are looking forward to meeting  parents to discuss their child's progress, as the SQA exams are only a few weeks away. Also the evening will give parents an opportunity to discuss their child’s future options.

S2 Parents Evening

Our S2 Parents Evening, on Wednesday 22^nd February, was very busy for our teachers with many staff commenting that they had good discussions with parents about the new S3 broad general teaching options.

The S2 Parents Evening will be held on Wednesday 22^nd February at 5.30pm to 7.30pm. This is an important time for our S2 pupils as they are making their 3^rd year option choices. It would be great to meet as many parents as possible to discuss their child’s progress and future options. We look forward to seeing you all.

The S4-6 Parents Evening on Wednesday 16th November provided parents with a great opportunity to discuss pupils’ progress with their teachers. This is a crucial stage for our students so it was great to meet so many parents.

Doon Academy parents evening for S4 - S6 pupils is being held on Wednesday 16th November 5.00pm to 7.30pm. Pupils have been issued with appointment slips and are booking appointment times with teachers. We value the support of our parents and we hope that all will be able to make an appointment for the evening.

UCAS workshops

Mark Dawes, the School and Families Officer for FOCUS West, will be in school on Wednesday 14th September to undertake UCAS workshops, 4pm to 5.30pm and 6pm to 7.30pm on F.E and H.E with parents. Any parent who wishes to attend please contact Mark on 0141-331-8683

Primary 7 Parents Open Evening

On Wednesday 8th June Doon Academy held a very successful Primary 7 Parents Open Evening. The aim of the evening was to allow positive engagement between teachers and parents. Initially parents had the chance to meet our new Head Teacher, Mr. MacKenzie and the Guidance Department.
This was followed by a subject showcase where parents received a 15 minute presentation from 3 departments. The event was excellent and comments from parents were very positive.
Doon Academy staff is really looking forward to working in partnership with the Primary 7 parents over the next few years. Thank you to all staff and pupils who helped support the event.

S4/5/6 parents evening

The S4/5/6 parents evening will be held on Wednesday 23rd March 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

SLC Parents visit

The Supported Learning Centre pupils held a coffee afternoon for their parents who viewed the film of the Burns Supper, which was produced and edited by the pupils. The parents all expressed how much they had enjoyed the afternoon and the film. All SLC pupils received a personal copy of the DVD.

S2 Parents Evening

Thank you to parents of S2 pupils who attended the very successful Parents Evening held on Wednesday 23rd February. The parents were able to discuss with teachers subject choices for their child in preparation for the S3 option sheet.

S4 - S6 Parents' night

S4/5/6 Parents Evening will be held on Wednesday 23rd March 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Parents are invited to attend to discuss with teachers their child’s prelim results and their option choices.

This is an opportunity for parents to visit class teachers and discuss their child’s progress before prelim examinations for some Standard Grades in December and Intermediates/Highers beginning at the end of January. S1 Parents Night will be held on Wednesday 19th May 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Parents Evening

The S3 Parents Evening will be held 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday 28^th April. Also parents of S2 and S4 FOCUS West pupils are invited to attend a meeting, on the same evening 6pm – 7pm, with Joe Meloy FOCUS’ Parents and Families Officer and Iain Mitchell from the University of Strathclyde.

Respect and Protect

Doon Academy will be launching their Respect and Protect Policy at the S2 parents evening on Thursday 25th February. This policy will serve as a model for East Ayrshire. Also attending the parents evening will be FOCUS West parents and families officer Joe Meloy who will give a presentation to S2 parents on the role of the forum.
