Prom

Our seniors' prom was held at the superb Lochside House Hotel on Thursday 6 June. It seems all our proms are held on lovely summer evenings and this one was no exception. Many guests stepped out of luxury limousines and into bright sunshine. They looked fabulous in beautiful ball gowns, suits and Highland dress for the awaiting photographers. Throughout the early evening guests were able to mingle on the terraces in the warm evening sunshine.

Mr MacKenzie welcomed guests and, speaking for all the staff of Doon Academy, he thanked the school leavers for their contributions to the life of the school over the last several years. It was good to see former students and the large staff presence was appreciated by all.

Ainslie Limond and student organisers presented flowers to staff who had helped with the event and special thanks were given to Mrs Reid who had helped to pull the event together in the last hectic days. The dance which followed the formal dinner was enthusiastically enjoyed by students and staff. Perhaps the highlight was the 'Gagnam style' performances of Messrs McCrorie, Neill and Orr - what a show! However the whole evening was a celebration of, and a fond farewell to, the young people who lived the values of our school.
